The Simple Method: Often times, disk errors can occur because of very simple problems like loose cables, cables connected in wrong places etc. So for these simple problems here are four simple fixes:
Reboot your PC
Check to see if any cables are loose
Make sure that the hard drive is plugged in correctly
Make sure that all of the cables are connected in their right spots
If you try all of them once and the disc error is not gone, you should repeat these about five times. And after that, if your PS3 still does not work you probably have a serious hardware problem in your console and it cannot be fixed so easily. So you need to try the other two methods of getting your PS3 fixed.
The Recommended Method: This is a method recommended by Sony. Ship your console to the Sony Repair Center and they will take care of it. It is that simple.
But the problem is that if your console is out of warranty then you are out of luck because you have to pay $150 to get it fixed and even if you console is in warranty, you would still have to wait about 6 weeks to get your PS3 back (Yes, one and a half month). Also, there is no guarantee how long Sony’s fix will last. One of my friends had disc error and he sent it to Sony (he paid a $150) and when he received his PS3 back after 6 weeks, he got the same problem the very first minute he started playing.
The Best Method: Now here is what I recommend. Buy a PS3 fix guide from a reputable website and fix your PS3 yourself. Now the problem with this one is that it is very hard to find good enough guides on the internet and most of the methods out there just mess up your system even more.
